1.- IntroductionAs with all prints I do, all start or from a need or a lust-to-have. This model was designed as a need, when a cheap comercial product broke after few weeks of use. The model is “over designed” but it was fun working with Fusion360 designing it (You don't need a fancy looking tool that is inside a drawer in the garden working table most of the time). The motivation was to have a spool that can rotate containing the tying wire, so it can easily come out when pulled, directly to the cutting device. I used the wire cutter from the broken product, therefore the base has two plastic pins that stick out for placing the cutter, and then with a solder mold the plastic for fixing the cutter. 2.- Printing the ModelThe model is composed by 4 parts: Box or base (garden-tying-wire-reel-base-v1.stl),Upper part of the spool (garden-tying-wire-reel-superior-part-v1.stl ).Lower part of the spool (garden-tying-wire-reel-inferior-part-v1.stl).Security or Locking washer (garden-tying-wire-reel-security-washer-v1.stl). No special requirements exist for printing the parts. The model was designed that no supports are required. I printed the parts in PLA+ using 3 different colors. I guess that printing in PETG would be a better choice for a part that will be out in the sun when working, but it is not mandatory. 2.1.- A word of Tolerances:The model includes moving parts (around the base axis), here the axis and spool have big tolerance space. The two parts of the spool attach using a thread, here the tolerance is smaller, but even then, the parts should screw together easily but not unscrew alone.Drop me a note if you need a model with tighter or loose tolerances and I will be happy to model it for you. 2.2 Assembling the ModelNo special requirements exist, just screw the two parts of the bobine till they lock together and you have the spool ready (The picture below shows a partial screwing): Then insert the cutting blade over the two plastic pins and use an solder to molden the plastic for locking the cutting blade in place: Once this is done, roll the tying wire onto the spool, insert the spool into the base and lock the reel with the security washer: Happy Gardening. 3.- Other Replacement prints I designed:Repair/Replacement for a Salomon Sky Boot Heel.Repair/Replacement for a sliding door handle.Square Furniture Foot Leg Cover Cap (20x20x20 mm).Repair (Replacement) for a broken strainer handle.Tupperware Round Cake Taker Lock. 4.- Change Log:Upload: 2023-08-12: Initial Version. 5.- Last WordsPlease don't forget to ★ Rate and ❤ LikePost your Makes to earn Prusameters!
