This is a box I designed for my kids to have fun with and practice their wrenching skills so someday they can do it for real. I tried to design everything to be as realistic as possible. The bolts are designed to look realistic, but they aren't really 12mm. I tweaked the design for printability. The thread pitch and profile are not to spec. Two comments on the pictures of my print. Yes, due to some low quality filament, the corners of the box warped up on a PLA print. And yes, I ran out of green filament and swapped to yellow to finish the box. It turned out fine, but wasn't on purpose. Additional note: As the kids have gotten older and stronger I'm having issues with the bolts breaking when printed in PLA. I'd recommend PETG, or Nylon for the bolts. I added a STL of the bolts in PETG, but if you print that then don't print the qty4boltswrench file, just slice the wrench by itself. Print instructionsEvery part prints in the orientation it is imported in without any supports needed. I printed in PLA with 0.2mm layer height, but anything should work. The included Gcode use the following settings and it is what I recommend for a balance between strength and print speed. qty4 bolts: 6peremeters, 20%infill, 4top/bottom layers Wrench: 3peremeters, 20%infill, 4top/bottom layers Lid: 2peremeters, 15%infill, 4top/bottom layers Box: 2peremeters, 10%infill, 4top/bottom layers
