This game won the 1992 mensa award for best new game anbd the 1992 bronze IDEA “Industrial Design Excellence Award” It was also featured in 4 episodes of Star Trek The Next Generation and one episode of Star Trek Voiyager https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Terrace TERRACE is the first strategy game to include “CANNIBALISM”. . . because sometimes it can be to your advantage to capture one of your own pieces TERRACE is for EVERYONE who loves strategy games. Simple Rules work perfectly with the terraced board and domed pieces to create unexpected complexity and challenge. The Object of the Game To Capture the opponents “T” 9the small marked piece) or move yor own “T” to the lowest square across the board. How To Move: Capturing: A Piece can capture any piece which is the same size or smaller by moving DIAGONALLY DOWN to the next lower level into its square. The captured piece is removed from the board Moving On The Same Level: In a single move a piece can move TO ANY ADJACENT SQUARE ON THE SAME LEVEL which it can reach without Jumping over an opponent's piece. It can jump over its own pieces. It cannot move across the centerpoint of the board. Moving Up: A piece can move STRAIGHT UP or DIAGONALLY UP, one square at a time to a vacant square on the next higher level. Moving Down: A piece can move ONLY STRAIGHT DOWN, one square at a time to a vacant square on the next lower level (diagonal moves down are for capturing only) COURTESY: While not required, its customary to say “Terrace” whenever you put your opponant's “T” in jeopardy of being captured on your next move. Likewise you say “Terrace-mate" when that opponent's “T” cannot escape from “Terrace”, announcing that you have won the game. THREE & FOUR PLAYER GAMES: In three and four player games, if you lose your “T”, all your pieces are then removed from the board and the other players continue playing. DRAWS: If a player whose turn it is, cannot make an allowed move, the game is a draw (There is no winner &no loser). You can also have a draw if the players simply agree to it. See the photos for board set ups and diagrams Print the board in white or grey. The board is not perfectly screen accurate, but the pieces are measured very carefully from the originals, and the board is very close to the original size and scale. If I ever get a 3d scanner, I'll upload an even better version of this board. EDIT: A More screen accurate version of the board can be found at the following link https://www.printables.com/model/657208-terrace-board-almost-screen-accurate For a basic set Print in White 4x TerracePiece1 4x TerracePiece2 4x TerracePiece3 3x TerracePiece4 1x TerracePieceT Print in Black 4x TerracePiece1 4x TerracePiece2 4x TerracePiece3 3x TerracePiece4 1x TerracePieceT If you wish to try 4 player, also print the following Print in Red 1x TerracePiece1 2x TerracePiece2 2x TerracePiece3 1x TerracePieceT Print in Blue 1x TerracePiece1 2x TerracePiece2 2x TerracePiece3 1x TerracePieceT The original pieces were high gloss injection molded parts. Smoothing these is highly recommended, or better yet use a resin printer Im also including the board cut up into 4 sections that should make it easier to print. Also print out 8 of the square connector parts. This 4 part board is exactly 180mm square at the base, and will just almost fit on a mini but not quite without some scaling. anything larger than a mini shouldn't have any trouble Note: Later editions of this game featured red and green pieces for the long 2player setup, and blue and purple for 4 player.
